Secrets in summer a novel

Thayer, Nancy. (Author).

Summary: Darcy Cotterill, 30 and divorced, works at the Nantucket library during the day. She spends most nights in her backyard, gazing at the stars. She's on the brink of starting a relationship with a local carpenter, Nash, when she gets new neighbors for the summer, the most unexpected of whom are her ex-husband, his new wife, and step-daughter. As Darcy is drawn into the lives of her neighbors, she develops a crush on another vacationer, Clive, a musicologist visiting with his grandmother. Over the course of the summer, Darcy is driven to decide what she truly wants--is she over her ex? Will she choose Nash or Clive?"--Provided by publisher.

Amy McFadden narrates a fun summer romance set on seemingly carefree Nantucket Island. Assuming the voices of young and old, males and females, McFadden expresses the range of emotions felt by the diverse cast of characters. Seemingly effortlessly, she transforms a chortle into a deep belly laugh, and a stirring whimper into a great outpouring of tears. Darcy Cotterill finds her winter haven transformed into a merrymaking retreat for summer residents whose complicated relationships grow ever more so. Though an unwilling observer, Darcy witnesses people redefining relationships to suit themselves rather than following the rules of convention. Eventually, this leads to self-discovery, internal resolutions, and acceptance. E.B. © AudioFile 2017, Portland, Maine
