While working as a mechanic at a desert airfield, Jordan discovers the crash site of a mysterious craft. The injured alien inside, a member of the Green Lantern Corps, appoints Jordan as his successor, gives him an all-powerful ring, and then dies without offering any further guidance. Still uncertain of the extent of his powers, Jordan must team up with another member of the Green Lantern Corps to save Earth from a brutal, blood-thirsty demon. Verdict Secret Origin portrays Jordan as a likable character despite his arrogant nature and lays a solid foundation for the Green Lantern's future exploits. Heavy on the explosions and a bit light on psychological depth, this book will mainly appeal to those who are fans of the DC universe and other superhero story lines. A worthy addition to any diverse teen or adult graphic novel collection.
